Full Time Rider/Groom, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk - REF JB1869

Full Time experienced Rider/Groom required for private sports horse stud in a beautiful location 6 miles south of Bury St Edmunds. Easy access from the A14 and A134.

Regular Part Time person also considered.

We are looking for someone reliable with a good sense of humour to join this small established team caring for mares, foals, youngstock and event horses up to 4*. This is a riding position so a confident, competent person essential.

The stud has excellent facilities which include the following:-

• Indoor and outside stables providing a good working environment
• Lunge pen and  30 x 20 loose jumping school
• Full size  80 x 40 outdoor arena
• 8 Horse walker
• 140 acres of grassland
• All weather gallops and grass gallops
• Canteen area and staff loo/wash area

• All yard duties to a high standard-mucking out, hays, waters, sweeping, tack cleaning etc
• Handling mares and foals, confidently and kindly on the ground
• Assisting with AI
• Lunging, long reining
• Ridden exercise of 4/5 year olds and eventers
• Riding freshly backed youngsters
• Clipping and plaiting
• Turning out for competition
• Keeping all areas clean, safe and tidy at all times
• 5 day week which will include weekends on a rota basis.

• Reliable, punctual, enthusiastic with a genuine love of working with horses
• Confident handling a variety of horses on the ground including cheeky foals
• Will be a good rider who is happy hacking and schooling a variety of horses including freshly backed youngsters
• Will have excellent turn out skills-clipping, plaiting etc
• Will be a good team player, who can follow instructions and also use their own initiative when working alone
• A lorry driver would be an advantage, but not a dealbreaker

Shared accommodation could be available and own horse welcome

Some shared commission on sales will be offered after 6 months of working at the stud.
