Part time, permanent pet sitter / dog walker / home help required for lovely Countryside home with plenty of footpaths, fields and off-road walking.

This is a part time, self-employed position with occasional overnight stays when our client is having to work away. The main purpose of this position is to look after 2 gorgeous dogs, a 5-year-old Doberman and a Border Collie puppy. If the person requires more hours, then this might be an option, and the role could evolve to include general housework or light gardening.

Approximate hours:

  • Between 18-35 hours a week (to be agreed)

Pay:

  • Good weekly rate (to be agreed).

Overview:

We are looking for a kind, reliable and confident individual to help care for a friendly and energetic Doberman and even more energetic puppy, while their owner is away or working long days. The older dog is friendly and affectionate, and will need one walk during the day, in addition to playtime, and of course, plenty of cuddles! The puppy will need more attention to help with basic training etc.

This role would be perfect for someone who loves dogs (and isn’t fazed by a big, bouncy working breeds or puppies!) and is looking for a varied, flexible role in a peaceful rural setting. More hours can be offered if the person is keen to help around the house with housekeeping, laundry, general cleaning, cooking or even a spot of gardening.

What the Role Involves: Dog Care (Core Responsibilities):

  • Exercise, playtime, cuddles and general companionship for both dogs (a private dog field can be booked for off-lead play if preferred for overnight stays)
  • Overnight care in a cosy guest room (double bed provided)
  • Calm, confident handling

Ideal Schedule (Flexible for the Right Person):

  • Weekdays: 1-2 flexible full days per week (approx. 10-12 hours per day, sometimes longer)
  • Weekend day, 4-8 hours, ideally 2-3 weekends per month
  • 2–4 evenings per month
  • 3–6 overnight stays per month (usually split across two trips)

What We’re Looking For:

  • Someone friendly, calm and confident with large breeds
  • A dog lover who has experience looking after puppies as well as more mature dogs
  • Reliable and organised with good communication
  • Happy to be flexible with hours and tasks
  • Able to commit to occasional overnights and weekend support
  • Car driver due to rural location
  • Someone who comes with glowing references and an up-to-date DBS (or willing to have one obtained before starting)
  • A non-smoker preferred
  • Someone fit and active who enjoys walking
  • Bonus: If you love animals and enjoy light housework or food prep, this could become a broader and more fulfilling role.

Start Date: June although flexible

If you can help and commit to this wonderful role then we would love to hear from you. Please contact Rebecca info@ruralrecruitment.co.uk
