Full Time experienced Bookkeeper/Accounts Person required to join an established team within an award winning landscape and construction business. This is an office based position -Monday to Friday - 8.30am to 5pm. The office is in a beautiful, rural location close to Bures(CO8) with easy access from Colchester and Sudbury ( car driver essential as not on public transport route ). 

We are looking for a reliable, punctual person with a friendly, easy to get along with personality and excellent communication skills. 

The current bookkeeper is leaving after 5 years, so the search is on  for someone to take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations and be fully up to speed with the following:

  • Maintaining accurate bookkeeping using both SAGE 50 and XERO
  • Producing and managing sales and purchase invoices
  • Managing CIS reporting and compliance
  • Preparing Monthly Management Accounts, bank reconciliations, and cash flow forecasts
  • Completing VAT and Payroll returns and processing weekly/monthly payroll
  • Overseeing supplier accounts and payment scheduling
  • Providing regular financial updates to the Director
  • Answer phone calls professionally and support general office administration

The Person we are looking for will:

  • Have proven experience in bookkeeping, ideally in a busy SME
  • Be reliable, punctual with a great work ethic
  • Be Polite, friendly and a real team player
  • Be fully computer literate particularly with Excel and Outlook
  • Have extensive knowledge and experience of all aspects of bookkeeping with proficiency in both SAGE 50 and XERO
  • Be experienced with Payroll and VAT submissions
  • Be organised, efficient with the ability to work under pressure occasionally.
  • Have excellent professional communication skills both written and spoken
  • Be self motivated, positive, and willing to 'muck in'
  • Be educated to A level standard or equivalent
  • As an added bonus have an interest in horticulture or construction!
