Caretaker

Part time Caretaker required for family with lovely country house in the village of Bures. In exchange for approx 8 hours work a week you will be offered a one bedroom ground floor flat within the grounds RENT FREE (all you pay is electricity and gas).

The owners are looking for someone reliable, friendly with a very easy to get along with personality to join their small established team. This would suit someone maybe with a job locally where they can run the two positions alongside each other. Someone who works from home would be suitable too.

The position will include:

• Mowing the lawns, orchard and other areas once a week using ride on mower
• Cutting a small lawn, grass paths and in the fruit cages using smaller mower also once a week
• Some strimming on the river bank 
• Feeding chickens and ducks daily and keeping their coop and areas clean at all times
• Ordering chicken food and dealing with pest control
• Bringing in logs to the house, splitting and re-filling log baskets during the winter months
• Occasional heavy lifting to help the gardener 
• Checking arrival of post and parcels
• Bi-weekly check on the water softener replacing salt as required
• Putting the dustbins out reading for collection
• Generally keeping an eye on the property, footpath and river use.
• Occasional help moving sheep or alerting shepherd of a problem
• Daily contact with the owners(who are in residence) to ensure everything is in order
• Help maybe required in the event of an emergency, including contacting family members, or other members of the team.

The Person:

• Will be able to commit to the 8 hours a week, there could be other extra paid hours at times
• Happy to live rent free in a one bedroom groundfloor flat ( electricity and gas not included) with free use of beautiful, extensive gardens.
• A car driver with a full UK driving licence
• A non smoker
• Be a great new member of the team.
• Polite and well mannered with a good work ethic.
