We have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced, professional Housekeeper to join the household staff of a magnificent 26-bedroom private property near Swaffham, Norfolk. This is a full-time, permanent role offering a formal yet welcoming working environment within a highly prestigious estate.

The Role

  • The successful candidate will work alongside an established team of housekeepers to ensure the property is presented and maintained to the very highest standards at all times. Duties will include:
  • Daily housekeeping of bedrooms, bathrooms, and formal rooms
  • Laundry, ironing, and wardrobe management
  • Assisting with serving at formal meals and events when required
  • Supporting the household during shooting season, which is especially busy and requires flexibility and commitment
  • Occasional weekend work (time off in lieu provided)

The Household

  • The property is used approximately 4 months of the year, with peak activity during the shooting season
  • Formal household: discretion and professionalism are essential
  • Uniform required: black trousers, white shirt, waistcoat, and apron (provided)
  • All equipment and cleaning products are supplied
  • No pets are kept in the main house
  • Staff team includes two existing housekeepers who will work alongside the new hire

The Person

  • The ideal candidate will be:
  • Professional, discreet, and reliable
  • Experienced in high-level housekeeping within a large or formal household
  • Consistent, hard-working, and able to work as part of a team
  • Well-presented (no visible tattoos, non-smoker)
  • Comfortable in a formal environment, where discretion is key and conversation with the family is minimal

  • Hours: Full time, with flexibility for weekends during busy periods
  • Salary: £14 per hour (employed basis)
  • Holiday: 20 days plus bank holidays
