A lovely family, with a beautiful home in Norfolk are looking for an experienced and capable Grounds Maintenance Person to join their small, friendly team. Their long-standing groundsman has recently retired after many wonderful years, and they are now seeking someone equally dedicated, practical, and trustworthy to take over the role.

The successful person will work alongside the part-time gardener who is on site three days a week to ensure the grounds (gardens, paddocks, driveways, tracks etc) are kept to a high standard throughout the year. This is a hands-on, varied position that would suit a multi-skilled, self-motivated person who takes real pride in their work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grounds maintenance, mowing lawns and estate tracks
  • Tractor driving, loader work, and hedge cutting (tractor-based and handheld)
  • Chainsaw and forestry work (chainsaw licence essential)
  • Fencing – both electric and post & rail
  • General groundwork: digger operation, topping, and grass reseeding
  • Basic building repairs, DIY, and carpentry projects
  • Patio and path cleaning, sweeping, gravel maintenance
  • Occasional assistance with horses and ponies (basic poo picking, haynets, water, etc.)

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience in estate or grounds maintenance (private estate preferred)
  • Chainsaw licence essential
  • PA1/PA6 spraying certificates desirable
  • Competent tractor and machinery operator (loader and telehandler experience an advantage)
  • Good practical workshop and carpentry skills
  • Confident around horses and ponies
  • DBS check required
  • Full, clean UK driving licence and own transport (due to rural location)

Hours:

37.5 hours per week, permanent, Monday-Friday 

Salary: £15-16ph depending on experience
