Stud Groom with foaling experience - Newmarket

Part Time (could potentially become full time) experienced Stud Hand required for private showjumping stud located approx 6 miles south of Newmarket and 11 miles east of Cambridge with easy access from the A14.

The ideal person will be within 40 minutes of the stud with their own transport as there is no public transport to the property.

Key responsibilities:

• Daily care and handling of mares, foals, youngstock, and stallions.
• Assisting with foaling, breeding procedures, and vet/farrier visits.
• Feeding, watering, and monitoring horses health and condition.
• Grooming, mucking out, bedding down, and maintaining clean stables.
• Leading horses to and from the paddocks, walker and handling for turnout.
• Administering basic treatments and medications as instructed.
• Keeping accurate records of horse care, routines, and health observations.
• Maintaining yard organisation, cleanliness, and equipment.
• Assisting with young horse handling and early education.
• Ensure high standards of welfare, safety and biosecurity at all times.

• Reliable, punctual with an excellent work ethic
• A good team player with an easy to get along with manner
• Passionate, with a kind, confident attitude and always having the horses welfare at the forefront.
• Experienced with stud work and handling mares and foals etc.
• A car driver with own transport.
• Fully fit and healthy as the role will involve handling strong horses and heavy lifting at times.

The Hours:

• 8am to 12 midday and then 3pm to 4pm
• Weekdays and weekend days required

• Salary will depend on experience
