Couple (Groom / Grounds Person) - with beautiful cottage provided

A great opportunity has arisen for a capable, loyal and hands-on, experienced groom / grounds person couple to join a beautiful private home in the Midlands. Set well off the beaten track, this is a busy, welcoming household looking for a couple who take real pride in their work and enjoy being part of a home where they are genuinely valued.

The role is full-time and live-in, with excellent accommodation provided. As the principals travel frequently for work, this position would suit a couple who enjoy being around, taking responsibility and keeping everything running smoothly in their absence.

Hours:

• Full time hours for the groom
• Full time hours for the grounds person
• Weekends included

The Role

This is a varied, practical position covering all aspects of country living, including:

• Full time, daily care of the horses - mucking out, feeding, rug changes, liaising with vets, farriers, dentists, physios and handling youngstock when required
• General yard and paddock management to a high standard
• Caring for dogs and chickens (a small, friendly dog of your own is welcome)
• House care and oversight of the main residence 
• Full time grounds work including lawn cutting, hedge cutting, strimming, log splitting, laying fires and general tidying
• Basic DIY and internal / external repairs (light bulbs, basic plumbing etc)
• Mending fences and general maintenance (chain saw, tractor and spray certificates would be preferred)
• Property security and oversight, house / pet sitting when family are away
• Driving the principals to and from airports, stations and other locations
• Greeting guests and helping ensure the property is always welcoming and well presented
• Couples only, individuals cannot be considered 

An HGV licence would be a bonus, though not essential.

About You

The family are looking for a couple who are:

• Highly experienced with horses and confident handling youngstock (non negotiable)
• Exceptionally loyal, with long tenures in previous roles and glowing references to back this
• Practical, proactive and happy to turn their hand to whatever is needed
• Lovely to have around — warm, trustworthy and discreet
• Happy to follow instruction but also capable of using own initiate 
• Proud of their work and the environment they care for (neat and tidy)
• This is a physical, hands on role so the couple must be fit and healthy and used to working in a similar setting
• Hold clean driving licences
• Well referenced, with enhanced DBS checks (or willing to have these completed)
• Sponsorship cannot be offered sadly and each person must have the right to work in the UK and hold a clean, full UK driving licence

Due to the nature of the role, unfortunately this position is not suitable for children.
