A truly special opportunity has arisen for an experienced Farm Secretary to join a long-established and well-regarded rural estate in West Norfolk. This role has become available following the retirement of a much-loved secretary after 25 years.

This is a full-time, on-site role, working Monday to Friday, 7.30am – 5.30pm. The successful candidate will work closely alongside another Farm Secretary, forming part of a supportive, friendly and highly capable office team. Hybrid or remote working is not available sadly— this is a hands-on role at the heart of the estate.

The Position:

This is a varied and rewarding position for someone who enjoys being deeply involved in the day-to-day running of a working farm and estate. Responsibilities will include:

  • Full responsibility for farm and estate accounts, including bookkeeping, invoicing and payments
  • Managing cash flow, budgets and financial reporting
  • Payroll preparation and general financial administration
  • Maintaining accurate records, files and compliance documentation
  • Handling correspondence, phone calls and emails with professionalism and discretion
  • Diary management, meeting coordination and general office organisation
  • Liaising with the family, farm managers, contractors, suppliers and advisors
  • Supporting the wider estate team with administrative and organisational tasks
  • Assisting with reports, audits and end-of-year preparations
  • Being a calm, organised and reliable presence within the office

There may be occasional weekend work during particularly busy periods, although the role is predominantly Monday to Friday.

The Person:

This role would suit someone who:

  • Has previous experience as a Farm Secretary or similar rural or estate-based role
  • Is confident managing accounts, budgets and financial processes
  • Familiar with Farm Plan, Gatekeeper, IAgSA or equivalent farm/estate management software- essential
  • Bookkeeping experience
  • Is highly organised, detail-oriented and takes pride in their work
  • Enjoys being office-based and part of a close-knit, on-site team
  • Is professional, discreet and comfortable working closely with principals
  • Values stability and is looking for a long-term position

The Estate:

This position offers an exceptional working environment, with plenty of variety, responsibility and the chance to become a trusted and integral part of the estate. The team is welcoming, supportive and values loyalty, commitment and a job well done.

For someone who enjoys structure, responsibility and being part of a well-run operation, this is a great opportunity to step into a role with real purpose and longevity.

If you are an experienced Farm / Estate secretary looking for a new and busy role where your contribution will be genuinely valued, we would love to hear from you.
