Large Private Estate – Near Swaffham, Norfolk

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Gardener/Houseperson to join the established team on a beautiful, private, country estate near Swaffham, Norfolk.

This is a varied, hands-on role suited to a reliable, enthusiastic individual with a strong work ethic, who enjoys working outdoors throughout the seasons and takes pride in maintaining gardens to the highest standard.

Due to the rural location, a full clean driving licence and own transport are essential.

The Garden

The estate garden comprises 26 acres and includes:

• Extensive lawns
• Formal and herbaceous borders
• Cutting garden
• Fruit cages and formal hedging
• Three greenhouses producing vegetables and flowers for the main house

Gardening Responsibilities

• Lawn care using large garden machinery (ride-on mowers, strimmers, sprayers, etc.)
• Basic maintenance of garden machinery
• General garden maintenance including weeding, planting, pruning, potting and cutting back
• Care and maintenance of herbaceous borders, hedges, fruit cages and greenhouses
• Vegetable and flower production for the main house
• Working as part of an established team to maintain the garden year-round

Houseperson Responsibilities

• Occasional driving for the family
• Assisting within the house during functions (e.g. serving guests)
• Assisting on shoot days as required

The Ideal Candidate

• Preferably holds horticultural qualifications
• Strong plant knowledge and practical gardening experience
• A genuine team player with an excellent work ethic
• Happy to work outdoors in all weathers and understands seasonal garden demands
• Reliable, flexible and professional in approach
