Live-In Carer Companion

(Week-On/Week-Off)

Location: Kenilworth (Midlands)

We are seeking a warm, dependable Live-In Carer / Companion to support CA, a vibrant and independent lady in her 70s living with late-stage Lewy body dementia and mid-stage Parkinson’s. This is a gentle, companionship-based role focused on offering presence, encouragement, and reassurance in addition to some personal care.

About CA:

CA is an engaging, intelligent woman with a strong sense of independence and a love of the outdoors. Despite her diagnoses, she remains physically active (although this is becoming more limited), enjoys walking her dog, and regularly goes to the gym. Maintaining an active lifestyle is very important to her, and we’re looking for someone who will support and encourage her continued engagement in the world around her.  She has a close family, including two daughters who are very involved in her life, and currently has a very experienced carer who will be working on your time off. She also has a housekeeper who will do the majority of cooking and cleaning, and will support CA through carer breaks.

CA's dementia is progressing, and while she sometimes struggles to find words and can become confused, she still recognises everyone around her and remains eager to participate in conversation and activities with gentle guidance. She finds it difficult to engage in tasks that require sustained cognitive focus, such as reading, but enjoys being part of shared activities such as cooking and light gardening.

About the Role:

This is a role focused on companionship and safety, especially during evening and overnight hours, with some personal care including assistance with showering and dressing. It will cover:

• 7 days on, 7 days off.

• Administering medications three times a day

• Light cooking

- Driving (current licence and excellent driving skills required)

• Conversation and companionship

• Being present overnight in case of confusion, falls, or emergencies

• Providing reassurance and a calm presence

Please note: This role will include personal care such as help with toileting, showering, and eating but this role also focuses on companionship, stability, and safeguarding.

Ideal Candidate:

This role is ideally suited to a single female who is kind, steady, and nurturing — someone who feels at home in the countryside and has a genuine interest in supporting another person’s wellbeing. You should be:

• Experienced with dementia/Parkinsons, ideally Lewy body dementia

• Calm, patient, and observant

• Respectful of personal independence and space

• Comfortable with overnight stays and acting calmly in emergencies

• Flexible, adaptable, and happy to travel/drive

• Positive and encouraging when it comes to staying active and engaged

Salary:

Negotiable based on experience, with competitive compensation offered for the right person.

Additional Details:

• Accommodation provided during working weeks

• All living expenses covered while on duty

• Supportive, respectful family involvement

• Peaceful, spacious surroundings in a beautiful rural home

• Immediate start preferable

This is a deeply personal and rewarding opportunity to form a meaningful connection with CA who, while living with challenges, continues to live with warmth, humour, and a strong desire to engage with the world around her.
