Country Couple (Heavy Horse Groom / Estate Maintenance)- Lincolnshire- REF RR1582

Knowledgeable couple required for large country estate in beautiful Lincolnshire, approximately 5 miles from Stamford. The couple will be required to work under the current Estate Manager, assisting with the heavy horses, animal care and grounds maintenance.

Experience handling heavy horses is preferred as this is a crucial part of the role.

The estate consists of 90 acres and already has some lovely members of staff helping to run it. The family show and breed heavy horses, and also have alpacas, sheep, dogs, chickens and ducks on site so this role would suit a couple who are great with animals and have experience looking after livestock.

Horse care:

• Turning heavy horses in and out of the field/stable
• General handling and educating
• Mucking out / poo picking fields
• Grooming
• Feeding
• Going to shows as and when required
• Showing the horses in hand
• Covering the current Managers day off / annual leave- sole charge of the running of the yard
• Previous heavy horse experience would be preferred

• General care including feeding, checking waters, mucking out, grooming, basic veterinary care, liaising with vets
• Confident and competent around large, heavy horses, alpacas, sheep, dogs and chickens

• Cutting lawns and hedges
• Gardening
• Re wilding
• Strimming
• Mending both wooden and electric fences
• Maintaining tracks
• Changing lightbulbs in outbuildings/stables and main house
• Splitting logs
• Clearing gutters
• Use of ride on mower, gator/trailer, quad bike and mini tractors
• Ragwort pulling

Beautiful 2 bedroom cottage with 2 large double rooms and an open plan living, kitchen diner. This will be included in the overall package and the couple will not be expected to pay bills. They must be happy to look after the principals little dogs whilst she is away.

The role:

The estate is lovely and the family like things to be done neatly and well.

There is a very strong team in place already with great dynamics.

This would suit a very practical couple who love animals and enjoy working in a rural location. A couple who are happy to muck in, turn their hands to most things with a strong work ethic and a 'can do' attitude would be ideal. This is certainly more of a lifestyle than a 9-5 job. The person must be comfortable and competent handling large, heavy horses.

There is also an opportunity to be put through your HGV licence so someone willing to travel would be ideal.

 Hours:

• 5.5 days a week
• Will include weekends and pet sitting

Clean driving licence essential.
