A great opportunity has arisen to join a highly successful, well-run farming business with a genuinely friendly and motivated, close-knit team near Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. 

This is a chance to become a valued, long-term part of a business where standards are high, the equipment is excellent, and the people truly care about what they do.

Set across approximately 6,000 acres, with a mix of arable cropping and environmental land, this is a varied and hands-on position for someone who enjoys being fully involved and takes real pride in their work.

The Role

This is a lead, hands-on position combining arable operations with estate maintenance, offering variety throughout the seasons.

Duties will include:

  • Spraying, drilling, cultivations and combine work
  • General seasonal arable operations
  • Hedge cutting, flail mowing, ditching and drainage work
  • Strimming and chainsaw work
  • Operating modern, top-spec machinery and equipment
  • Using a 360 excavator (JCB 140X) for track maintenance and tree work
  • Supporting wider estate upkeep, particularly in quieter farming periods

You will be trusted with excellent machinery and kit, so a high level of care, attention to detail and mechanical understanding is essential.

The Person

This role would suit someone who is:

  • An experienced arable operator with strong practical knowledge (essential)
  • Happy to roll their sleeves up and muck in wherever needed (crucial)
  • A genuine team player who enjoys being part of a close-knit environment
  • Reliable, proactive and takes pride in doing a job properly
  • Calm under pressure during busy periods and understands the seasonal nature of farming
  • A “right-hand person”, capable, trustworthy and quietly confident
  • Understands the nature of farming, the longer hours that peak times bring and a willingness to help out where needed. 

Someone local would be ideal, although there may be scope for accommodation longer term for the right person.

Most importantly, they are looking for someone who is genuinely good to be around, hardworking and not afraid of hard work and someone who fits well and wants to stay and make a real impact. 

Key Requirements

  • Proven arable farming experience a must
  • PA1, PA2, PA4 and PA6 (essential)
  • Full UK driving licence (21+)
  • Telehandler and 360 excavator experience beneficial (not essential)

Hours & Package

  • Monday to Friday, typically 7am – 4pm
  • Additional hours required during peak seasons (including some weekends)
  • 40 hours per week + overtime
  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience
  • Ongoing training and development
  • Opportunity to work with top-class machinery and equipment
  • The farm try to avoid working Sundays (where possible/weather dependent) as this is considered a day of rest and for family time.
