A lovely family near Long Melford in Suffolk are looking for an experienced, reliable, and nurturing part‑time nanny/mothers help to support their busy household during the week. This is a long‑term, year‑round role ideal for someone who genuinely loves caring for children, enjoys being part of a family’s routine, and takes pride in creating a calm, happy home environment.

The Family:

The family have three delightful children aged 3, 7, and 9. All three are happy, active children who enjoy arts and crafts, outdoor play, clubs, and adventures in their large garden (which includes a trampoline). They are generally excellent eaters and thrive with structure, kindness, and engagement. The youngest child starts school in September 2026.

The household is friendly, organised, and respectful. The parents are thoughtful employers, give plenty of notice for any changes, and value consistency and reliability. They have previously employed both full‑time and part‑time childcare support and truly appreciate the important role a nanny plays in family life.

The Role

This is a part‑time nanny/mothers help position for two days per week (Wednesday and Thursday), providing both childcare and light household support while the parents are working.

Typical hours:

  • Wednesday: 6:00am – 6:00pm
  • Thursday: 6:00am – 8:00pm

There may be the occasional request to stay overnight mid‑week (with a comfortable bedroom provided). This is not frequent, but flexibility is greatly valued.

On one of the two days, care will often be sole charge, including school drop‑off and pick‑ups.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Loving, attentive care of three children
  • School runs and transporting children to activities (driving essential)
  • Afternoon play, crafts, garden time, and outings
  • Preparing healthy, child‑friendly meals (the family loves good food and would welcome someone who enjoys cooking)
  • Helping with light housekeeping while the children are at school
  • Babysitting on occasion
  • Supporting the household smoothly during school holidays with fun day trips and activities

Practical Details:

  • All children attend school; wrap‑around care applies during term time
  • School pick‑ups occur between mid‑afternoon and early evening
  • A family car may be available at certain times; at other times the nanny will need their own vehicle
  • One child has a peanut allergy, so a peanut‑free home is essential
  • The family will soon welcome a friendly puppy, so the nanny must be animal‑loving and happy to help with dog walks

The Ideal Person:

This role would suit an experienced nanny or mother’s help who:

  • Is warm, capable, and confident with multiple children
  • Is highly reliable and well‑organised
  • Enjoys cooking and contributing to a well‑run home
  • Is happy to commit long‑term and doesn’t have too many conflicting commitments
  • Is comfortable driving children safely
  • Is flexible, calm under pressure, and genuinely enjoys family life

Package:

  • £16–£18 per hour (self‑employed)
  • £50 overnight rate (when required)
  • Holiday allowance split fairly between family‑chosen dates and nanny‑chosen dates
  • Start date: early September

This is a truly lovely position with a kind, respectful family who are seeking someone special to become an integral part of their children’s lives. The right candidate will be valued, trusted, and welcomed as part of the household.
