This is one of those rare roles that does not come along often, and when it does, it is rather special. A warm, welcoming and genuinely lovely family based near Bray, Berkshire are looking for a highly accomplished private chef to join their home on a one week on, one week off rota, working in partnership with their existing chef in a beautifully balanced and thoughtfully structured role.

At the heart of this position is a busy, happy family home filled with warmth, energy and life. There are children, there are pets, and there is a natural ease to the way the household runs. This is a family who truly appreciate good food and value the person behind it.

The Role:

The focus of the role is on lunches and suppers, beautifully prepared and executed, always in line with the family’s preferences. Breakfast is not required.
Day to day, this is about exceptional home cooking, seasonal, nourishing and delivered with consistency, care and real attention to detail. When the family entertain, the brief naturally evolves to include elegant supper parties where presentation, flow and finesse come into play.
The role follows a Monday to Friday structure of 40 hours during your working week, though a natural flexibility is important. During your week on, there will be times where weekend support is needed, and a willingness to step in seamlessly as part of the household rhythm is key.
Equally, there will be times when the family are out or away, and during these periods the role becomes lighter, offering a welcome balance within the rota structure.
Travel will occasionally be part of this position. The family spend time skiing, visiting their coastal home within the UK and travel more broadly, and they would love their chef, on occasion to join them. A background in chalet style cooking and previous private chef work would lend itself particularly well to this role, given the rhythm, variety and environments involved.

The Person:

We are looking for someone who has calm excellence, is friendly, authentic with no sign of a big ego.
This would suit someone grounded, warm highly confidential and genuinely personable, with a quiet confidence in their ability. They must naturally take great pride in their cooking, whilst also being entirely comfortable as part of a busy and informal family environment.
Previous experience as a private chef is essential, ideally within a private household or similar setting, and candidates with a chalet background will also be very well suited. A career that demonstrates consistency and longevity will be particularly valued. This is a family who are looking for someone to become part of their lives, someone who builds trust over time and remains with them for the long term.
This is a live out position, therefore candidates must be based locally to Bray, Berkshire or within the surrounding areas. A full, clean driving licence is also required.

Package:

Salary: Competitive annual salary 
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with flexibility during your working week
Structure: one week on, one week off rota alongside an existing chef
Travel: required, including skiing, coastal property within the UK and additional family travel on occasion
Meals: lunch and supper
Accommodation: not provided, candidates should be based within reach of Bray, Berkshire
