An established Suffolk farming and field sports business is seeking a reliable and hardworking individual to join our team as an Underkeeper and Farm Worker, based at our game farm serving four driven shoots.

This is a varied, hands-on position centred on the rearing of pheasants and partridges at our on-site game farm, alongside general keepering and farm duties across our four shoots and farming operation across Suffolk. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Keeper and farm staff throughout the season and year-round.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rearing pheasants and partridges from chick through to release, including brooder house management, feeding, watering, and health monitoring
  • Releasing and holding birds in release pens across four shoots
  • Predator and vermin control, including trapping and lamping
  • Habitat and woodland management to support game and wildlife
  • Assisting with beating, picking-up, and driving on shoot days across all four shoots
  • General livestock care and farm duties as directed
  • Fencing, ditching, and general farm and game farm maintenance
  • Monitoring bird health and welfare in line with best practice

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Previous experience in game bird rearing, keepering, or a similar countryside role (preferred)
  • Knowledge of pheasant and partridge rearing systems and poultry health
  • A valid firearms certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • A full, clean driving licence
  • Good knowledge of countryside legislation and best practice
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • A genuine passion for the countryside and game management
