Groom/Rider

Part Time experienced Groom/Rider required for small family yard located in a stunning rural location close to Hadleigh Suffolk.

We are looking for a reliable person to take over from the current groom who has been working with the family for 6 years, but is now sadly moving away from the area.

There are 3 horses in work who will need exercising to keep them fit  (mostly off road hacking on lovely tracks and fields), so a good, confident rider essential. There are also ponies and point to point horses in the field.

The Days and Hours

• Monday 8am to 4pm
• Thursday or Friday 8am to 4pm
• Sunday 8am to 12pm

The Position

• Mucking out
• Making sure horses have hay and water
• Feeding
• Grooming
• Turning out and bringing in from the field
• Rug changing
• Tack cleaning
• Tacking up for riders
• Checking for illness and injury and reporting to owner or vet etc
• Assisting the farrier and vet etc
• Keeping the yard clean and tidy

The Person

• Reliable, punctual with a really good work ethic
• A confident, experienced rider who can maintain horses fitness -hacking and schooling occasionally 
• Organised and tidy
• Experienced with all yard duties
• Confident handling horses on the ground and ridden
• Local to the area within half an hour
• Own transport essential

Good hourly rate offered to successful person who can provide fully checkable reference.
