Part Time Groom

Part  Time experienced groom required to join small, energetic team providing first class care to event horses ranging from Novice to 5*. 

The rider and horses have competed at Badminton and Burghley as well as internationally with great success.

The yard is located approx 7 miles north of Newmarket with excellent access to all areas via the A14. 

This is not an isolated position as other grooms both full and part time are also employed.

The Position:

• All yard duties - although there is little mucking out for the new groom
• Clipping, plaiting, trimming etc
• Bandaging
• Liaising with vets, farriers etc
• Preparing horses for rider
• Lunging and long reining
• Preparing and loading the lorry for travel
• Organising yard and paddocks to maintain cleanliness and safety at all times
• Keeping all areas clean and tidy
• Keeping tack thoroughly clean and safe
• Checking horses for any sign of injury or illness and reporting immediately
• Travelling to events when required 

The Person:

• Reliable, committed to providing first class high standard care.
• Will have been a professional groom previously
• Will have excellent turn out skills-clipping, plaiting etc
• Will be very confident and capable handling a variety of top class horses on the ground(no riding required)
• A team player with an easy to get along with personality
• Organised and comfortable in keeping to schedules and following instructions
• Happy to live on site and work most weekends during the event season and on a rota basis other times
• Lorry Driver preferred but not a dealbreaker
