Temporary Head/Senior Gardener

Full Time Head Gardener/Senior Gardener required to cover current employee's operation recovery likely to take place in September. 3 days a week would be considered for the right person.

We are looking for an experienced gardener preferably with horticultural qualifications to step in and manage these beautiful estate gardens to the highest standard. This is a hands-on role, so this would suit someone energetic, fit and active, to work within a small team.  Excellent plant knowledge is essential.

The gardens open each year for various events, raising impressive funds for charity through admissions, food, plant and craft sales. The horticultural team assist with these events acting as an ambassador for the gardens and showcasing their hard work. Therefore, it is asked that the successful candidate will assist with these openings, working an additional two Sundays per year. 

The gardens are set in 25 acres of parkland and consist of formal lawns and borders, topiary, walled garden, secret gardens,  arboretum, rose garden, cutting garden, and a vegetable garden. They are established and beautiful, so someone passionate about all things horticulture and gardening in general is a must.

Reliability along with a really good work ethic and an easy to get along with personalty are of utmost importance.

A good hourly rate will be offered on a self employed basis.
