We are looking for an highly efficient and accountable Farm Administrator to join a thriving forward thinking farming business in the Breckland District area in Norfolk. This is a part-time opportunity to join a genuine and supportive family-run company offering a long-term fulfilling position in the team. They are looking for an administrative professional who wants to feel truly valued, and someone who takes pride in every detail of their work and knows that their actions contribute to the success of the business everyday. 

The Farm Administrator will be responsible for day-to-day financial administration of the farm office, including a large payroll, bookkeeping, VAT, and a range of farm-specific record-keeping duties which ideally requires knowledge of Gatekeeper or Farm Plan. Farm office experience and industry knowledge is preferable, but a quick learner with strong bookkeeping skills will also be considered. The ideal candidate will be very computer literate and excellent with managing spreadsheets and using Xero. 

The Farm Administrator will work 21 hours a week which could be split over 3 or 4 days based in the office. An arrangement will be finalised for the ideal candidate. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Process monthly payroll for employees, including both temporary and permanent staff
  • Responsible for general bookkeeping and accountancy tasks
  • Facilitate invoicing as required including checking and reconciling invoices 
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Administration for employee holidays
  • Computer literate and excellent with spreadsheets
  • Maintain farm plan records, including crop records and costing - experience of crop costing and fertiliser is desirable
  • Manage cropping licences
  • Keep irrigation records and handle irrigation invoicing
  • Carry out business valuations at the end of the year

Experience Required: 

  • Previous experience manging payroll
  • Bookkeeping and accounting experience
  • Proven experience using Xero 
  • Experience or knowledge of Farm management softwares (Farm Plan, Gate Keeper)
  • Experience carrying out business valuations at the end of the year 
  • Excellent organisation skills, attention to detail and accountability for financial administration
  • Full UK Driving License and own vehicle - due to rural location this is essential 

Salary:

  • Hourly rate of £20 - £24 depending on experience
